Personal Area Network (PAN) Definition

Personal area network (PAN) is a network of communication with other devices with other devices within very close, just a few meters away. PAN or Personal Area Network is an access point to a variety of personal devices such as a computer, telephone, mobile phone, television, home security systems are based on data communications, as well as public communication tools such as the internet. read : What is the internet

Control Authorities on PAN done personally, and for the technology used, among others, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Bluetooth. PAN is connected through a bus runs on a computer, such as USB and Fire wire. PAN or Personal Area is a computer network used for communication between computer devices; range from PAN is usually only a few meters away.

PAN can be used for communication between personal devices themselves
Usefulness Personal Area Network
Connect computer devices
As a medium of communication between the devices themselves (personal communication)

Besides, the Personal Area Network (PAN) is a computer network used for communication among computer devices (including telephones and personal digital assistants) close to one person. The device may or may not belong to the person. PAN typically range from a few meters. PANs can be used for communication between personal devices themselves (intrapersonal communication), or for connecting to a higher level network and the Internet (an uplink). read Metropolitan Area Network Definition (MAN)

Personal area networks may be wired with computer buses such as USB and FireWire. A wireless personal area network (WPAN) can also be made possible with network technologies such as IrDA, Bluetooth, UWB, Z-Wave and ZigBee.

A Bluetooth PAN technology also called Pico net, and consists of 8 to active devices in a master-slave relationship (a very large number of devices that can be connected to the "parking" mode). The first Bluetooth device in piconet is the master, and all the devices that communicate with the slave master.

A Pico net typically has a range of 10 meters, although ranges up to 100 meters can be reached under ideal circumstances.

A new innovation in Bluetooth antenna is permitted for this device greatly exceeds the range for which they were originally designed. At DEF CON 12, a group of hackers known as "Flexible" managed to connect two Bluetooth devices more than half a mile (800 m) of it. They use an antenna with a scope and Yogi antenna, all attached to the rifle stock.

A plugged the antenna cable to the Bluetooth card in the computer. They then called antenna "The Blue Sniper."

Skinplex, another PAN technology, transmits via the capacitive near field of human skin. Skinplex can detect and communicate to one meter of the human body. Already used for access control to lock the car door and the jam protection on the roof of the car.

Wireless Personal area network PAN
A WPAN (wireless personal area network) is a personal area network-For the network interconnecting devices centred on an individual from work-in which the wireless connection. Generally, personal area wireless networks using multiple technologies to enable communication within about 10 meters, in other words, a very close distance. One of the Bluetooth technologies, which is used as the basis for a new standard, IEEE 802.15.

A WPAN can serve all of the interconnections to the computer and communicate regular on devices that have a lot of people in their desk or bring them to this day-or could serve more specialized purposes such as to allow the surgeon and other team members to communicate during an operation.

Key concept in WPAN technology known as "plugging in". In an ideal scenario, if the two-WPAN devices fitted to be close (within a few meters of each other) or within a few kilometres of a central server, they can communicate as if connected by cables. Another important feature is the ability of each to lock the device from other devices selectively, it is necessary to prevent unauthorized tampering or access to information.

Technology for WPAN is in a period of rapid growth and development process. The aim is to facilitate the smooth operation of the home or business devices and systems. Each device in a WPAN will be able to connect to other devices in the same WPAN, provided they are in different physical with each other.

In addition, the whole world will WPANs interconnect. So, for example, an archaeologist at the site in Greece may use the PDA direct access to the database at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and to submit his findings to the database.

Summary.
Personal Area Network (PAN) is a computer network used for communication among computer devices (including telephones and personal digital assistants) close to one person. The device may or may not belong to the person. PAN typically range from a few meters. PANs can be used for communication between personal devices themselves (intrapersonal communication), or for connecting to a higher level network and the Internet (an uplink).
